Golden Grads Forever Club Reunion
Highlight Reel
“My favorite session was the history of the music when I was here. It was the Classes Without Quizzes. … I remembered a lot about the events that they shared. I enjoyed seeing the articles about All-Campus weekend my freshman year, which I think is probably one of the most memorable events of the time when I was here, the activities, the music, being up on the intramural field, acting like you’re at Woodstock.” Featured performers included Steppenwolf, Alice Cooper and B.B. King.

Favorite weekend event: Classes Without Quizzes

“It’s so fascinating, the trips, the tours. The biggest thing was reminiscing with people who were my peer group that were here and we experienced the same things – the streaking on Hillsborough Street and across campus, the national championship in basketball in ’74, getting stuck in traffic on Hillsborough Street because you couldn’t get anywhere, it was just bogged down and standing up on the patio of Darryl’s watching the streaker.”

Favorite weekend event: Hunt Library tour
“I don’t know many of [the GGFC alumni], but it’s always good to make good friends. We’ve been on some tours together. We’ve had fun. I’m going to continue to come to these events as long as I possibly can – hopefully that’s a long time. … NC State afforded me the opportunity to get a fine education. I graduated in 1972 with a degree in computer science. With that degree I was able to get a job with IBM with whom I worked for 35 years before retiring in 2007. That made a big impact in my life.”

Favorite weekend event: Camaraderie
“I remember All-Campus weekend was a big thing that we enjoyed. It also made me reminisce. I played intramural sports. I played rugby. That was where we played our games was out on that field. That was a special time. … [All-Campus weekend] was a music festival that had all kinds of musicians, some very well-known, a small version of Woodstock.”

“[I’ve enjoyed] seeing how much NC State is keeping up with everything and how vast the campus has grown since I was here. It’s huge. … This is family. Three of us attended here. My mother worked here. It was something that was a part of us. We walked to campus to go to class. I worked my semesters here. It was good.”
