For Ged King, NC State is the thread that runs through his family and close friends, keeping them connected across generations. His children have attended NC State, as well as his brother, sister and both of his brothers-in-law. King says it’s hard to find a corner of his family story that doesn’t touch the university in some way. NC State also gave him a professional start, opening doors he couldn’t see at the time. As he’s grown older, he’s come to appreciate just how often he leans on the skills he learned at NC State. The university has become more than a school for him – it’s part of his family’s identity.
