Passing the Pompoms: An NC State Cheerleading Legacy

Sabrina Morin and Amy Sellers — both former members of NC State’s cheerleading team — have passed their pompoms and love of the Wolfpack to their daughters, both of whom are rising sophomores on the cheerleading team.

Jenny Palmateer spent much of her playing and coaching career learning from her life-long mentor. Palmateer has been named the CEO of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, becoming the first former Wolfpack player to lead the charity named for the late coach.

Three-time Grad Named Director of Hurricane Center

Three-time NC State grad Mike Brennan was named the 14th director in the history of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Hurricane Center and will be responsible for tracking and predicting tropical weather systems.

Valvano Elected to Hoop HOF

Jim Valvano, the legendary coach who led NC State to a pair of ACC titles and the memorable 1983 NCAA championship, was elected as a contributor to the Hall of Fame, joining three other NC State legends: men’s basketball coach Everett Case, player David Thompson and women’s coach Kay Yow.
