Hollingshead Receives Women in Business Award
Justine Hollingshead, chief of staff and assistant vice chancellor for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, is a recipient of the 2020 Women in Business Award from the Triangle Business Journal.
The award honors women in various business categories who have proven to be dynamic and outstanding leaders with established track records of significant accomplishments in business and community service. Hollingshead and other recipients were recognized in a virtual ceremony on Oct. 23.
Hollingshead is well known at NC State for her volunteerism and community service efforts, and her leadership has been especially critical during the university’s COVID-19 response. She has worked for more than 25 years as an administrator in higher education on various college campuses across the country, in addition to the business sector. In her role as chief of staff and assistant vice chancellor for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs she assists with communication efforts, strategic planning, emergency preparedness, and event planning. Additionally, she has been part of an implementation team at NC State to operationalize collective efforts in addressing planning, logistics, and response to crisis situations.
Hollingshead is a certified Emergency Medical Technician in the state of North Carolina and has done medical service work in Haiti. She was also deployed to Wilmington, N.C. after Hurricane Florence, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, and to eastern North Carolina after Hurricane Floyd. She has been an active volunteer with Cary Area EMS for over 20 years as a captain and coordinator of special events for the agency, along with serving as a field supervisor for the Rex Hospital Emergency Response Team.
