Andrea Duhon serves on the NC State Alumni Association Board of Directors because she believes deeply in the motto of giving back and creating pathways for future students to access a college education. Her commitment is especially rooted in enhancing the collegiate experience for under-represented minorities and first-generation students in STEM, ensuring they feel supported, seen and empowered to succeed.

Mentorship played a transformative role in her own journey, and she feels a responsibility – and a genuine calling – to pay that forward to the next generation. Leaders like Dr. Hill and Mama Thorpe were catalysts in shaping her belief in being part of the solution, not the problem. Their guidance taught Duhon that by shifting the focus from barriers to possibilities, uncharted pathways to success for all students can be created. She says serving on the board allows her to honor their legacy while helping build a stronger, more inclusive community for those who come after her.
